Join us for our weekly evening hike where we will cover 4/5 miles. There are some small climbs but it's fairly easy. You will probably see parts of the Greenbelt and the trail system that you haven't seen before! Dress for the weather and trail conditions. Bring water and a snack if you think you'll need it. No reservation is required. We go in all weather unless conditions are dangerous. Always check the Greenbelt Conservancy's Facebook page for updates on changes or cancellations. Join us for "Greenbelt on the Go!" Have you ever asked yourself, “what type of sparrow is that?”. October is prime time to learn how to identify and appreciate all the different species of sparrow that fill our fields and woodland edges. Expect to see song, field, white-throated and white-crowned sparrows, along with others on this walk. Meet in the visit center parking lot at the end of Hylan Blvd. This event is made possible thanks to the generous funding from NYC Council Member, Joseph C. Borelli of the 51st District on Staten Island, as part of the Greener NYC Initiative. Our October 7 & 14 sessions have reached capacity. Please choose on of the four remaining clinics. A six week series: Saturday, October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4 & 11 Running through the woods can nurture the soul, free the mind and tone the body. Join us for one or all of these free six clinics/runs designed to help you become more comfortable and adept at trail running. Stride adjustment, trail assessment, gear choices and safety will be discussed. The group will run the trails at a comfortable pace under the leadership of Anthony Maranzano, an experienced trail runner and marathoner. Anthony has considerable experience running along the Greenbelt trails, and in our seasonal trail races. This free series is funded by NYC Council Member, Joseph Borelli of the 51st District in Staten Island. Click here to register for this free event.
