– – Join us for fun and games as we greet another new Carousel season in the Greenbelt's Willowbrook park. This year's celebration falls on Cinco de Mayo. Join us as we celebrate Mexican style featuring a celebration of the Monarch butterfly (mariposa) annual migration to Mexico! Festivities will begin at 12 noon with a live musical performance by "Music with Patrick." Did you know you can also rent our magnificent Carousel for a private gathering? Reach out to us here for information and rental fees: Email: celebration@sigreenbel.org Sunday, May 6: Learn what it takes to be an Amateur Entomologist by exploring the world of insects! Celebrate the 10th annual NYC Wildflower Week with Greenbelt educators as they search for wildflowers and other fantastic flora along the trails of the central Greenbelt. – Tuesday, May 8: We will hike within the Greenbelt to listen for frogs, and record data as part of a national citizen science initiative. Frogs and toads play an important role, serving as both prey and predator, in wetland ecosystems and are considered indicators of environmental health. Many previously abundant frog and toad populations have experienced dramatic population declines both in the United States and around the world and it's essential that scientists understand the scope, geographic scale, and cause of these declines. – – Sunday, May 13: Learn what it takes to be an Amateur Entomologist by exploring the world of insects!
