Saturday, May 19: Forest Restoration Workshop with the Protectors of Pine Oak Woods in the Egbertville Ravine and at High Rock Park – Meet at the entrance to the White Trail (on Meisner Avenue opposite the Bluebelt dam close to the intersection of Manor Road and Rockland Avenue). For our 261st workshop we will cross the creek in order to remove English Ivy creeping up the trees and covering the ground adjacent to Rockland Avenue. We will uproot the vines where possible, and cut it where we cannot pull it out. Should we finish early, we will return to the shed and cut oriental wisteria on the slope at Loosestrife Swamp. Protectors will provide gloves, bags, tools and refreshments. Call Don Recklies at 718-768-9036 or Chuck Perry at 718-667-1393 for more information. (Service credit is available.)
