Our bright orange pumpkins are reasonably priced, and the pumpkin patch is a great backdrop for photos! We will kick off the day with "Music with Patrick," and all are invited to sing and dance along! Our friends from Quiver Farms Petting Zoo will visit for a portion of the day. (there will be another Hawk Watch on Saturday, October 29) Moses Mountain, in the heart of the Greenbelt, is a prime location to watch as many as ten species of raptors flying overhead on their southbound migration to wintering grounds. Red-tailed hawks, falcons, osprey, red-shouldered hawks and more are possible on this trip. Join Seth Wollney, ecologist, and learn about why hawks migrate and how to identify different species as they flyby. Join Seth Wollney, birder and ecologist, on top of Moses Mountain to watch as many as ten species of raptors flying overhead on their southward migration to wintering grounds. Red-shouldered hawks, merlin, bald eagles and more are possible on this trip. Learn why hawks migrate and how to identify different species as they flyby. Meet at the corner of Meisner Ave and Rockland Ave for a walk up to the top of Moses Mountain. This event is made possible thanks to the generous funding from NYC Council Member, Joseph C. We will be working with the Protectors of Pine Oak Woods on a Viburnum Planting Project - planting 50 Arrowwood Viburnums throughout the park in an attempt to replace some of those that have been killed by Viburnum Leaf Beetles. Join our friends from the Protectors of Pine Oak Woods for the Fall 10-mile hike. They will begin at Deere Park, the northern gateway to Staten Island’s magnificent centerpiece. The Greenbelt stretches south across the peak of Todt Hill and cascades through the deciduous woodlands that inhabit Staten Island’s heartland. Explore the woods and wetlands of our borough’s largest park with Protectors as we enjoy the fall foliage. Participants will meet along Staten Island Boulevard behind the Petrides Complex.
