Come run this family-friendly flat trail race that is well suited for all fitness levels including those competitive runners among us. New this year: "Running Wild:" Trail running clinics to improve your skills on Saturdays, October 7 - November 11. We run in Willowbrook park incorporating loops around the lake with stretches under the tree canopy. The leaves are still dazzling us with their warm colors creating a picturesque scenery for your morning in the park. Runners receive a great shirt or hat (we haven't yet decided!). An awards ceremony and refreshments round out the day. Best of all, your race fee helps support the good work of the Greenbelt Conservancy, a non-profit organization that works in partnership with NYC Parks to care for the Greenbelt's open space, parks and legendary trail system. We are pleased to receive support for this event from NYC Council Member Joseph Borelli. A six week series: Saturday, October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4 & 11 Running through the woods can nurture the soul, free the mind and tone the body. Join us for one or all of these free six clinics/runs designed to help you become more comfortable and adept at trail running. Stride adjustment, trail assessment, gear choices and safety will be discussed. The group will run the trails at a comfortable pace under the leadership of Anthony Maranzano, an experienced trail runner and marathoner. Anthony has considerable experience running along the Greenbelt trails, and in our seasonal trail races. This free series is funded by NYC Council Member, Joseph Borelli of the 51st District in Staten Island. Click here to register for this free event.
