Pat Salmon History Presents “Powerful Women of Staten Island’s Past”

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

In honor of Women’s History Month, join local historian and author Pat Salmon as we learn more about the contributions of several amazing women who impacted Staten Island and, in many cases, beyond. These women met challenges but persevered and accomplished their goals. We will examine the influential lives of Eva Bechtel, Audre Lorde, Elizabeth Britton, Alice Austen, Mary Jane Irwin O’Donovan Rossa, Catherine “Mac” O’Callaghan, Dorothy Day, and many others. This program is sponsored by NYC City Council Discretionary Funds.

Additional instructions for participants:  Parking is limited at the Greenbelt Nature Center, so plan accordingly.  Additional parking is available at the Greenbelt Recreation Center, 501 Brielle Ave.  Carpooling, public transportation, and rideshare services are great options as well.
