The Forest Path by Linda Hickman, musician - followed by an inspired hike
Saturday, April 15 Meet volunteers with the Protectors of Pine Oak Woods in the parking lot at the dead end of Staten Island Blvd. (south of Petrides School). We will ascend the trail toward the Butterworth Avenue entrance where we will continue to uproot Japanese Barberry, Burning Bush and Wisteria (our 247th workshop). On the way we will pull up a patch of Winter-creeper growing beside the trail. If you don’t have your own, Protectors will supply gloves, pruners & refreshments. After the work session we will take a short walk over nearby trails. For more information contact Don Recklies at (718) 768-9036 or Chuck Perry at (718) 667-1393. (Service credit is available.) Visit www.siprotectors.org for more hiking information.
