Sunday, February 25 - Become a citizen scientist! Discover how you can help frogs and toads in our environment by identifying and monitoring their unique vocal calls. This training kicks off the Greenbelt’s 2018 monitoring season. Ages 8+. Free. Call (718) 351-3450 or e-mail naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org. Every Wednesday: Join us for our weekly evening, guided hike where we will cover 4/5 miles. There are some small climbs but it's fairly easy. You will probably see parts of the Greenbelt and the trail system that you haven't seen before! A headlamp or flashlight is required. Dress for the weather and trail conditions. Bring water and a snack if you think you'll need it. No reservation is required. We go in all weather unless conditions are dangerous. Always check the Greenbelt Conservancy's Facebook page for updates on changes or cancellations (Cancellations generally only occur in very bad weather). This event is made possible thanks to the generous funding from NYC Council Member, Joseph C. Borelli of the 51st District on Staten Island, as part of the Greener NYC Initiative. – This week's hike will begin and end at LaTourette Golf Course, 1001 Richmond Hill Road, Staten Island, 10306 Every Wednesday: Join us for our weekly evening, guided hike where we will cover 4/5 miles.
