Sunday, June 16: Participate in invertebrate conservation by building your very own insect hotel, which you can take home with you to place in your backyard! Insect hotels are vital for all manner of insect and arachnid conservation. They provide year-round shelters for bees, ladybugs, butterflies, moths, and other insects to over winter. This free program is eared toward ages 5-10 with grown-up chaperone! Registration required. Call 718-351-3450 or email naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org – Borough President Jim Oddo has rescheduled his Lyme Disease Forum for Monday, June 17th. We urge you to attend. This is a rare chance to hear from top experts on the impact of tick-borne illnesses on our borough. Researchers from the New York City Department of Health, Columbia University and Manhattanville College will give presentations and take questions from the audience. You’ll learn how to spot and avoid ticks, and how to safely remove a tick that has become imbedded. With the summer season almost upon us, it is as important as ever to protect yourself from ticks and tick-borne diseases as you venture outside. We hope you will join us for this free event. Ample parking is available at multiple lots.
