THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT HIKE SERIES IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED. Wednesdays: This weekly evening group hike covers approximately five miles at a quick pace. All are welcome including children with hiking experience who can cover the distance. Please dress for the weather and terrain, and bring water and a snack if you think you will need it. Be advised that there are some inclines, exposed tree roots and uneven terrain along our course. This hike meets in all seasons. Beginning in October, headlamps or a flashlight is required. No advance registration is required for this free event. Join us! If the weather is deemed dangerous, the hike will be canceled, and posted first on our Facebook page. Please join us! Wednesday, March 18: A free monthly series featuring science topics and experiments designed for children and their guardians to accomplish together. A few short, self-guided activities will start families thinking together, followed by a full group activity. Ages 8-10 with Adult chaperone. Free and fun! – Tree Tots for 3 and 4 year-old children with an adult chaperone Thursdays March 12-May 28: Through hands-on activities, crafts, and stories, children will become familiar with the sights and sounds of the forest. Space is limited. Registration is required. Fee per session: $3 per child or free for Greenbelt Conservancy members. Thursdays, March 12 - 28: Through hands-on activities, crafts, and stories, 2 year-olds and their caregivers will become familiar with the sights and sounds of the forest. Space is limited. Peepers are tiny, and can be found in the Greenbelt wetlands. – Friday, March 20: Join our friends from the Metropolitan Herpetological Society for our first ever gathering at the Greenbelt Nature Center! Bob Ferguson, popular wildlife photographer and avid field herper, will be joining us to give a presentation on ten things he has learned while herping in the neotropics. The night will also include one of Bob's framed photos being raffled off and other prints available to those interested. We will be broadcasting the presentation over zoom for those who cannot make it physically. Saturday, March 21: Join the Greenbelt environmental educators for a celebration of the spring season and the International Day of Forests with a hike on the Nature Center Trail. Ages 4+ Free.
