Saturday, May 4: Following in the steps of Protectors of Pine Oak Woods founder and friend Richard Buegler, participants enjoy a walk through the Greenbelt, a woodland which defines the life’s work of Richard Buegler. Beginning at Staten Island Boulevard, behind the Petrides School, plan to walk the trails in search of pinkster azaleas, trout lilies and a colorful collection of migrating spring birds and emerging butterflies. FrogWatch USA is a nationwide program that monitors and tracks amphibian populations by collecting data with help from volunteers like you! Your data is valuable in assessing the health and biodiversity of local amphibian populations, and you may also have a chance to monitor your favorite wetland with your family, friends, or scout troop. You may also have the opportunity to attend special workshops related to amphibians. Community service credit is available. This is a monthly series through August.
