Summer Camp 2020 – Registration is now open

Summer in the Greenbelt!

The Greenbelt Summer Day Camp at High Rock Park offers guided environmental education opportunities, hands-on outdoor experiences, team building, crafts, and other fun activities led by our experienced educational staff. Camp is based in High Rock Park, the cornerstone of the Greenbelt. Camp is is a New York City Department of Health licensed program.  Camp hours are 9:30 a – 1 pm, Monday – Thursday.

Sessions Begin on Monday, July 6, 2020

Campers are placed into small groups for each of the five week-long sessions.  Sessions meet Monday-Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Our camp is great for nature lovers, young-scientist, creative types, and adventurers alike!


Young Buds (ages 5-6)

Young Buds gives children the opportunity to experience nature in the heart of the Greenbelt. Campers will participate in sen- sory activities, crafts , and outdoor explora- tion to discover the wonders of the forest. Your little naturalist will have fun learning about the animals, rocks, plants, and trees of High Rock Park.

Explorers (ages 7-10)

Explorers Camp introduces hiking skills, forest ecology, and outdoor adventure to Greenbelt campers. Campers participate in group hikes, science experiments, crafts, and other fun activities to expand creative inquiry, create confidence in out- door situations, and increase knowledge of our local ecosystem.

Trail-blazers (ages 11-13)

Trail-blazers provide adventure and out- door leadership opportunities for older campers ready for challenge. Campers par- ticipate in service learning projects, leave not trace ethics, and outdoor skills, focus- ing on leadership and group dynamics and offering a “next step” for future outdoor leaders.


Registration & Refund Policy

Registration is accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Campers 5-7 years old must provide a copy of their birth certifi- cate with complete registration and payment. Young Buds must have completed kindergarten in order to be eligible for camp.

A note on refunds: A 20% non- refundable fee will be charged for all can- cellations made prior to May 24, 2020. Cancellations made from May 25 through June 13 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be offered after June 13, 2020.
