N/A – Welcome the New Year of 2023 with a hike filled with nature. We will be passing quiet frozen ponds and catching glimpses of winter birds. Trails are hilly at times, so wear appropriate footwear. – Join us for a joyful hike to start the year. Learn more about the natural history and features that make High Rock Park a unique and special place. Length of hike will be dependent on the weather conditions and size and pace of the group but will stay on trails near the Nevada Ave entrance. Dress appropriately for hiking outside in the weather conditions. – Winter is a season of reflection. The relative quiet and clarity have inspired poets for centuries. Join us for a short walk in High Rock Park, then we will take turns reading aloud some of the finest poems about winter, from W.S. Merwin, Mary Oliver, and more. You are welcome to bring a poem to share- and perhaps you will be inspired to write poems of your own. – – Come and enjoy the winter views of Silver Lake Park. Once a site of a hotel and ice harvesting for refrigeration, the reservoir is now the gem of the park. Trails are paved with some inclines.
