Have you always wanted to paddle a canoe? Or perhaps you’ve been meaning to go hiking, but are too nervous to try it out on your own? Worry no more! You can try these activities (and many others) at the first-ever Greenbelt Outdoor Adventure Day. This free, family-friendly outdoor recreation celebration will be held in the Greenbelt at Willowbrook Park from 12 – 4pm on June 10, 2017.

This inaugural event, hosted by the Greenbelt Conservancy and NYC Parks, and funded by the New York City Council as part of the “A Greener NYC” initiative, features a variety of guided outdoor activities for people of all ages and abilities. Events include canoeing with the NYC Parks Urban Park Rangers, fishing with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, hiking with Greenbelt staff members, bird watching, and a live birds of prey demonstration. The NYC Parks & Recreation Fitness Mobile and Play Mobile will also be on hand offering outdoor games and activities. Participants can enjoy as many of the activities as they would like while in a structured environment. Guidance from NYC Parks and Greenbelt Conservancy staff and volunteers will be offered.
