Red Trail “Maya Lin Planting” Monitoring Project 9:00am- 12:30pm

Join the Greenbelt Conservation Corps and spend a half-day monitoring the health of native tree and shrub species planted as part of our ongoing forest restoration projects. This particular monitoring site was planted in conjunction with the Maya Lin’s: Ghost Forest Planting event that took place in the Greenbelt’s LaTourette Park section of Staten Island.

When you volunteer with the GCC you help to restore trail accessibility, improve forest and water quality, remove invasive plant species, all while becoming a part of our community of stewards!

Please be sure to wear sturdy footwear and to dress for the weather. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Sunscreen and bug spray are suggested.

*Lunch will be provided at the GCC Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony following the stewardship monitoring project.

GCC Volunteer Appreciation Lunch and Ceremony 12:30pm- 3:00pm

Join the Greenbelt Conservation Corps in celebrating the dedicated, willing and generous volunteers that help to keep the Greenbelt accessible and safe for all visitors. During the GCC volunteer appreciation event, lunch and awards will be provided to recognize all the effort, sweat and elbow grease put in to ensure that our Greenbelt is the best it can be.

Following the celebratory feast and awards recognitions we will be playing lawn games on the Greenbelt Nature Center lawn.
