Natural Resources

The Greenbelt’s natural and “Forever Wild” areas support rare habitats such as wetlands, forests, woodlands, meadows, and native rare plant species.  They are accessible through our extensive trail system located in an urban setting. Read more about how this precious resource is managed and cared for.

Greenbelt Conservancy is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Become a member; support and donate. We thank you.

Have a Picnic

Children head toward the picnic grove in the Greenbelt's Willowbrook Park

The Greenbelt is a wonderful place to relax with your family and friends and enjoy a picnic. High Rock has picnic benches just inside the main gate. The picnic grove behind the Carousel for All Children in Willowbrook Park offers a shaded spot for your family and friends. A playground, the Carousel and Willowbrook Lake are within walking distance. The Carousel sells refreshments during its operating season (May – October). The Nature Center offers bench seating under a tree canopy or in partial shade. The Grille Room and patio at LaTourette golf course are open to the public; enjoying the view of the rolling fairways is a great way to spend your lunch hour.

If you are planning a picnic with over 20 guests, it is necessary to get a permit in advance; the procedure is outlined here.
